Garner State Park – most visited state park in Texas! Nightly dancing on the pavilion during the summer season and other peak times. Hike up to popular "White Rock Cave", rent a paddle boat or play miniature golf.
Lost Maples State Natural Area – 10 miles of excellent hiking and nature trails. Exceptional fall foliage begins in early November. On Ranch Road 187 (25 minute drive).
Alamo Village (in Brackettville) – most active movie set in Texas. Built for John Wayne's noted film "The Alamo". Tour authentic, full-scale western town.
Market Square Antiques with Tea Room (in Uvalde) – over 30 antique dealers under one roof.
Memorial Park (in Uvalde) – municipal golf course and lighted tennis courts (open to the public).
Shopping in Mexico – only 1-1/2 hour drive from cabins.
Swimming, tubing & snorkeling – in the clean, crystal-clear Frio River. Ask about tube rentals & shuttle.
Volleyball and horseshoes – at cabins.
Fishing for catfish, perch or bass – the water is so clear you can actually see the fish you're after.
Bird watching – The Audubon Society rates this area as one of the best bird watching areas in the United States.
Bicycling & driving scenic roads – "top of the mountain" views, hairpin curves and deep canyons cut by the Frio and Sabinal Rivers make the east and west route of FM 337 one of the most breathtaking in the Texas Hill Country.
